1. About these Terms
These Terms and Conditions (the “Terms”) govern your use of The Green Roof website and directory (the “Site”). By accessing or using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
2. Who we are
The Green Roof is an online directory that helps homeowners find local home service professionals. We are based in Oro, Ontario, Canada, and can be reached at [email protected] or (249) 288-8929.
3. How the directory works
The Green Roof is an information service only. We list independent businesses so that homeowners can find and contact them directly.
We do not provide, perform, supervise or guarantee any home service, and we are not a party to any agreement, quote, payment or dispute between you and a service provider.
4. Service providers are independent
Businesses listed on the Site are independent third parties. They are not our employees, agents or partners.
A listing, a featured placement or a category ranking is not an endorsement, recommendation or guarantee of any business, its licences, insurance, pricing, availability or quality of work.
5. Your responsibilities as a homeowner
Before hiring any business you find on the Site, you are responsible for making your own checks. We recommend that you:
- confirm any licences, permits and certifications the work requires;
- confirm the business carries adequate liability insurance and, where applicable, WSIB coverage;
- ask for references and a written quote or contract before work begins;
- never pay in full in advance for work that has not been completed.
6. Business listings
Businesses may submit or claim a listing through the Site. By doing so, you confirm that you are authorised to act for the business and that the information you provide is accurate, current and lawful, and you agree to keep it up to date.
All submissions are reviewed before they are published. We may edit, decline, suspend or remove any listing at our discretion, including listings that are inaccurate, misleading, out of date or in breach of these Terms.
Basic listings are free. Featured placements or other paid services, if offered, are subject to the price and terms agreed with you at the time of purchase.
7. Acceptable use
When using the Site you agree not to:
- submit false, misleading, defamatory or unlawful information;
- impersonate any person or business;
- copy, scrape or harvest listings or contact details in bulk, or use them to send unsolicited messages;
- interfere with the security or normal operation of the Site.
8. Content and intellectual property
The Site’s design, text, graphics and logos belong to The Green Roof or its licensors and may not be reproduced without permission.
Businesses keep ownership of the logos, photos and descriptions they submit, and grant The Green Roof a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display that content on the Site and in promotion of the directory.
9. Third-party websites
Listings may link to websites, social media pages or booking tools operated by third parties. We are not responsible for the content, policies or practices of those websites.
10. Privacy
We collect and use personal information, such as the details you send through our contact and listing forms, only to operate the Site and respond to you, and we handle it in line with applicable Canadian privacy law. See our Privacy Policy for details.
11. Disclaimer
The Site and all listing information are provided “as is” and “as available”. While we work to keep listings accurate, much of the information comes from businesses or public sources, and we do not warrant that it is complete, accurate or current.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Green Roof is not liable for any loss, damage, injury or cost arising from your use of the Site, from your reliance on any listing, or from any work, product or service provided by a business listed on the Site.
Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have that cannot be limited under applicable law.
13. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify The Green Roof against claims, losses and costs arising from your breach of these Terms or from information you submit to the Site.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date shows when they last changed. Continuing to use the Site after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
