1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how The Green Roof (“we”, “us”) collects, uses and protects personal information when you use our website and directory (the “Site”). We are based in Oro, Ontario, Canada, and handle personal information in line with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

2. Information we collect

We only collect the information you choose to give us, plus basic technical data needed to run the Site:

Contact form: your name, email address, phone number (optional) and message.
Business listings: business name, address, phone, email, website, social links, photos and the name and email of the person submitting or claiming the listing.
Newsletter: your email address, if you sign up.
Search: the service and city or postal code you search for, which we use only to show nearby results.
Technical data: standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and pages visited) and essential cookies needed for the Site to work.

3. How we use your information

to reply to your messages and questions;
to review, publish and update business listings;
to send our newsletter, if you have subscribed;
to keep the Site secure, fix problems and understand how it is used.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.

4. Business listing information is public

Details submitted for a business listing (such as the business name, address, phone number, website and photos) are published on the Site so homeowners can find and contact the business. Please do not submit personal details you do not want to appear publicly. The name and email of the person who submits a listing are kept private and used only to manage that listing.

5. Sharing with service providers

We share information only with trusted providers that help us run the Site, such as our website hosting and email providers, and only as needed for them to provide their services. Our contact page includes an embedded Google Map; Google may collect data according to its own privacy policy when the map loads.

We may also disclose information where required by law.

6. Where your information is stored

Our website and email providers may store information on servers located outside Canada, including in the United States. When this happens, your information may be subject to the laws of that country.

7. How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above. Contact messages are kept for as long as needed to respond and follow up. Listing information is kept while the listing is active. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time.

8. Keeping your information safe

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections and restricted administrative access, to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.

9. Your rights and choices

You can ask us to:

tell you what personal information we hold about you;
correct information that is inaccurate;
delete your information or remove a listing you submitted;
stop sending you our newsletter.

10. Children

The Site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date shows when it last changed.
